Shot, Effects and Angle Ideas.

There are several trailers i have looked at and watched through to gain inspiration and ideas for what i want our movie trailer to consist of. Although the quality of our shots and the editing of our footage will not be that of a hollywood blockbuster, i think the ideas can be used to good effect and can create some interesting footage for our trailer.

The Black Swann is the the most inspirational of all of the trailers ive looked at. I like alot of the shots that are used. I think if gives off a very dark and mysterious feel from the the very beggining. The change between shots, and the angles that are used are very cleverly put together, and give the viewer an instant insight into the genre and style of the film. Our film is all about the mind, and how it controls the body. The whole point of our trailer is to get the idea of our lead roles mental issues across to the audience, without giving away the entire plot and twist of the actual full production itself. There is a shot that i have taken from the Black Swann trailer which i found on youtube. The shot shows the lead roles reflection turning around to face her, which shows 2 different sides to her persoanlity. You can clearly see that the expressions on the 2 faces in the shot, symobolise different  feelings and different personailtys. The lead role is clearly worried about what is occuring, and comes across to the audience as the good but weaker of the 2 personalities within herself. The ghostly reflection in the mirror gives us an insight into the evil thats within her, which she is unable to control, which is the exact point that we are hoping to put forward in our movie trailer.

The other clip i really like the look of, is where the lead role happens to walk past a female, whos she believes to be herself, but her dark side. You can see the difference between the two charcacters. Good and evil is shown in this image through there clothing, one dark and one light, i think this is extreamly effective. This shot looks alot easy to acheive without using special effects, as we just need to use a different person for the fron and behind shots.
This is a short video taken from an interview with Natalie Portman. The lead Role in the film Black Swann.

She speaks about her character and the mind set and preperation she went through when portraying this character. She tells us about the difference between the two sides of herself and the differences and changes she had to make when interchanging between the two. Her character is very similar to the lead charatcer in our trailer, as she finds herself stuck in the middle of her own split personalities.

I looked into some of the special effects behind the making of Black Swan and the differences and changes that occure from the original footage, to the footage that we see on our screens. Months of editing and rendering clips is put into creating around 10 seconds of footage. Which in the eye of the viewer may seem like a clip which was filmed and edited within minutes, as it looks so easy and simple. My example, is the shot, which we are led to beleive is Natalie Portman, dancing across the screen. The body is actually that of a proffesional Ballet dancer, whos body and jawline features are extreamly similar to that of Natalie Portman. Natalie Portmans face is then switched with the face of the Ballet dancer, to create the shot of Natalie Portman dancing. This clip that lasts all of 10 seconds, would have taken months and months of editing.
